PHOTO: Front view of scope
All of the optical parts can be seen in this view through the front of the telescope. The most obvious optical element is the corrector lens assembly. It has no optical power so it looks just like a window and doesn't distort the view of the inside. In this view it's not really possible to see the two separate lenses. The clear aperature of the corrector is 9.8 inches. The 10 inch spheroidal primary mirror is visible at the back of the scope. The view through the focuser and eyepiece can be seen reflected in the diagonal secondary mirror whose reflection can be seen in the primary mirror.

If you look carefully, you can see the offset of the secondary mirror. It is shifted away from the focuser so it properly truncates and captures all of the light in the focused cone of light from the primary mirror. Reflections are visible on the inside walls of the telescope, but this will be taken care by lining the inside of the tube with flocked paper when the scope is completed.
