Sunflower House - Madrid, New Mexico

PHOTO

I was on a road trip in New Mexico driving along the Turquoise Trail when I came across the artist community of Madrid. The locals pronounce their town name differently than I expected. The first half sounds like your "mad" at someone and the second half like you want to get "rid" of someone. The place was an old mining town and some of the homes and shops use old railroad boxcars for their basic structure. I especially liked this purple home/shop with sunflowers painted all over it. Check out Madrid if you're in the area.
