Clair Camp is one of countless abandoned mining towns in California. It was a gold mining town that was part of the Ratcliff gold mine operation that ran from 1896 to 1930 under various owners. The ruins that were there at the time I visited was quite extensive. Its been many years since I was there and I hope people have left it alone so future visitors can enjoy the history of that lonely place. This photograph is one of my favorites that I took on the day of my visit. I always use it in my multimedia slide shows when ghost towns are one of the subjects of the presentation.
