San Francisco Peaks, Arizona

The San Francisco Peaks are the remnants of a large stratovolcano north of Flagstaff, Arizona. This mountain contains the highest peak in Arizona, which is Humphrey's Peak at 12,633 feet in elevation. Humphrey's Peak is the highest snow covered peak on the right side of the summit peaks in this photograph. To the left is Mount Elden, which is a large lava dome associated with the formation of the San Francisco Peaks. This photograph is a panorama made from eight overlapping images. The full size image is just over 36 inches wide at 300 pixels per inch.
