This photo was taken on my first and so far only houseboat trip on Lake Powell. We were cruising by when I noticed this view and lighting of the butte. By the time I had the camera ready, we had gone too far past it and had to turn around to get back to the right position for this composition. This was the first time we had made a u-turn with the houseboat. What a great learning experience as we got the tow line for the skiff we were towing caught up in one of the outboard engines. It was worth the leason. I used an Olympus OM-3 camera with a Zuiko (Olympus) 40mm f/2 lens set at f/8. I scanned the image with a Nikon Coolscan LS-10. Due to the wide dynamic range of this image I had to use Adobe Photoshop to combine two scans taken with different exposure settings, one for the sky and the other for the foreground.
