Yosemite Valley National Park is one of those places that provides variety in the same locations and views each time I visit. The trip that I took this photograph on was my second backpack to sleep on top of Clouds Rest, the large peak to the east of Half Dome. There were three different forest fires going on simultaneously while I was at Yosemite on this particular trip.
My first impression on attaining the summit was depresion due to the very muted views of the valley below, but that changed as sunset approached and sunlight started to filter at a low angle through the smoke. For this photograph I used my Olympus OM-3 camera with Kodachrome 64 film and scanned it with my Nikon LS-2000 film scanner. Photograph by Rick Scott.
