Lurie-Houghton Telescope
on the Equatorial Mount
In this photo, the entire telescope is together and ready for final tuning of
the corrector lenses. All of the parts are now powder coated or painted, so
the telescope looks like it will when completed. In the
focuser is a
Tele Vue 22mm Type 4 Nagler
eyepiece I just got two days before taking this photo. The complete telescope
without eyepiece, finder scope and protective end caps weights 36.5 pounds.
The equatorial mount is a
Losmandy G-11. Compare this view to an
early photo of the raw aluminum tube on the mount. Note the extra
counterweights required to balance the telescope with all of its parts.
This photo was taken 11 August 2000 with an Olympus D-600L digital camera.
