Plaques and Focuser on the Lurie-Houghton
This photograph shows the two awards I've won with my Lurie-Houghton
telescope. One is for the design and construction of the telescope
awarded to me at the 2001 Riverside Telescope Makers Conference (RTMC).
The second is for observing all of the Messier objects viewable the
night of the marathon, which was 109 objects. It was the first time I
had done the Messier Marathon and it was a pleasure to do it with the
Lurie-Houghton on the Losmandy G-11 equatorial mount.
This photo was taken 1 October 2004 with my Minolta DiMAGE A1 digital
camera. I had just gotten a telephoto adapter for it and was
experimenting with the camera. This is a hand held photo using the
equivalent of a 300mm lens on a 35mm camera.
