The Leonid meteor shower of the year 2001 was absolutely spectacular. For over two hours there were so many meteors I didn't know which way to look. No matter which way I viewed, there were plenty of flashes seen from others that exploded behind my back. They looked like someone set off a camera flash.

I took this photograph with my Olympus OM-3 camera and Zuiko (Olympus) 21mm f/2 lens mounted on the side of my telescope in the desert south of Florence, Arizona on 18 November 2001. The exposure was ten minutes at f/2 and the film was Kodak Elite 400 35mm slide film that I push processed to ISO 800. I scanned the image with a Nikon Coolscan LS-2000 and used Adobe Photoshop for further processing.
