The Big Chain, AZ

PHOTO

Big loads require heavy duty support. This photograph shows a section of a chain used to raise and lower one of the large doors of Davis Dam. They are used to control the water level of Lake Mohave on the Colorado river between Arizona and Nevada. Each link of this chain is over a foot long. I took this photograph the night before I went on a canoe trip from the base of the dam to Park Moabi near the town of Needles, California. Photograph by Rick Scott.
