Agathla Peak, AZ

PHOTO

Agathla Peak is a volcanic plug, the remains of a huge volcano that's mostly eroded away. What you see in this photograph is the frozen throat of the volcano where magma used to rise up to the mouth to be expelled as lava. The mountain, also know as El Capitan, rises about 1500 feet above the surrounding countryside. I used my Olympus D-620L digital camera for this photograph. Photograph by Rick Scott.
